Stella Fowler

 

Stella Fowler was born on September 16, 1900 at Teeswater, Bruce, Ontario, the last child of William Grosert Fowler and Ellen Maria Hiscocks.

 

Stella Fowler married R. Hector King. Hector was born in 1896. Stella and Hector took over William Fowler's tailor business and ran it for many years. Stella was Secretary-treasurer of the Teeswater Cemetery Board in 1956.  Stella Fowler produced a traveling minstrel show to raise money to build the Teeswater-Culross Memorial Arena, as a memorial to the men who gave their lives in World War II. Stella and Hector were founding officers of the Coronation Rebekah Lodge, which supported many local projects. Stella played the piano for lodge functions. Stella Fowler directed musical numbers and accompanied the performers at the piano for many variety concerts. She was the organist and choir leader in the Presbyterian Church for 44 years. A plaque has been mounted in Knox Church to commemorate her years as organist and choir leader there. Stella and Hector had one daughter:

 

            Evelyn King                                       b. February 6, 1924

 

Stella Fowler died on her birthday on September 16, 1986.

Hector King died in 1963.

 

Evelyn King married Glen Needham, then married Henry George Walling. Evelyn and Henry had one son:

 

            Robert King Walling
